Suffice it to say, nothing could have prepared us for what our Contemporary Visual Culture course had in stock - especially the fact that we would go on to make a little book titled - 'Hands that Sculpt the Divine - Through the eyes of an Ambivert, an Extrovert and an Introvert'. As we had embarked on this open-ended journey, we were completely unaware as to where it would lead us and what we would find. What started out as a satirical attempt at stringing a narrative about statues with our tin foil hats and critical lenses donned, ended up in a journey where hearts were moved, voices were raised and many a wholesome moment was shared. Our encounters with the migrant craftsmen from Rajasthan has been quite an oddity. With many an insight on their day-to-day, this book happens to cover the nuances of their lives in a state that isn't their own, the realities of diaspora and in some instances, it also questions the act of documenting lives as well. The following are a couple of narratives, discourses, illustrations etc (the project was so liberating that the nature of the following is quite indescribable for me!) from the project that I am quite proud of! A link is provided at the end of this page redirecting to the book in its entirety.
